The theme is medieval fantasy, centered around the young wizard Merlin, surrounded by magical symbols such as runes, scrolls, and potions, and of course, the Grimoire – the spellbook. The Grimoire acts as both a Wild and a Scatter: it substitutes for other symbols and triggers the free spins round with at least three instances.

The Split Symbol feature can be randomly activated in the base game and usually affects the middle reels – the symbols that appear there are split, increasing the ways to win. In the free spins, this mechanic can be active on all five reels, allowing the ways to win to increase up to 7,776. The free spins always start with ten spins; before they begin, one of the regular symbols is randomly chosen to become the special Expanding Symbol.
