Chinese Zodiac is a video slot game developed by GameArt and features 5 reels with 25 paylines. The theme reflects the mystical world of the Chinese zodiac; 12 different animal symbols such as rat, ox, and tiger are among the game's icons. The wild symbol is the dragon; when it appears on the reels (except reel 1), it substitutes for all other symbols except the bonus tiger symbol to help complete winning combinations. The tiger symbol (Bonus Tiger) triggers the free spins round when three appear on the first three reels, allowing for 9, 12, or 15 free spins with these triggers.

The game also has a special feature called Second Chance Stacks: if at least two reels on reels 1–3 are completely filled with the same symbol, this feature is triggered. If the stacked symbol is the tiger, the non-tiger reels are covered with "Chinese Doors"; if the stacked symbol is not the tiger, the first non-tiger reel starting from the left is closed. When these doors open, a "zodiac wheel" appears; this wheel selects a symbol that matches the stacked symbol, and the closed reel symbol turns into a complete stack of the selected symbol.

After each win, there is a gamble option; the player can take the risk of doubling their winnings by guessing the color of the card or collect their current winnings. There is no Bonus Buy feature (directly purchasing the bonus round) within the game. An autoplay option is available, allowing players to play with automatic spins instead of manually spinning the reels. The visual and sound design is crafted in harmony with the game's eastern theme, with symbols detailed and set against an atmospheric background.
