Forge of Gems from Play’n GO is a video slot with five reels and three rows, complemented by an extra horizontal Forge Reel above the main reel. The game utilizes the Cascading feature where wins disappear and new symbols fall down to form potential new winning combinations. The Forge Reel is inactive at first but is activated when a cascading system has occurred; it can release modifiers such as Splitters, Wilds, or Multipliers onto the playing field. The Splitter symbols can expand the number of winning ways from the base level of 243 up to 36,288.

The theme is gemstones with a steampunk and forge aesthetic: the background is dominated by a glowing furnace and the symbols consist of colorful jewels and card symbols with metallic elements. The game features a Scatter symbol (a red jewel), and when at least three of these appear, the Gembox feature is activated. The Gembox can provide either a spontaneous win, a set of Free Spins, or sometimes both, depending on how many Scatters trigger it.

With three Scatters, the player can receive 8 or 10 free spins or a direct cash prize; with four Scatters, the equivalent of 10 or 15 free spins; and with five Scatters, up to 20 free spins. During the free spins, there are no blank symbols on the Forge Reel and collected multipliers are carried through the entire game mode – they are not reset between free spins.

The Wild symbol can substitute for regular symbols (except for Scatter and Forge Reel symbols) to help form wins. The maximum possible win potential is 20,000 times the bet, which can be achieved through combinations of modifiers, Splitters, and multipliers.
