Spark of Genius

“Spark of Genius” by Play’n GO is a video slot with a 6×6 grid and utilizes the Cluster Pays mechanism: wins occur through clusters of four or more symbols that form closed circuits on the playing field. The setting is historical-steampunk, early 20th century, where inventors Maynard Woodrow (Manifest Energy) and Tess Jačova (Resonant Energy) compete to dominate the electric future.

Each time there is a winning circuit, the so-called Energy Charger meter fills up at the top of the playing field. There are two energy tracks: Manifest Energy (Woodrow) and Resonant Energy (Tess), each with three levels that activate bonus features once you have collected enough circuits. For Manifest Energy, the features are Relay (after 15 circuits), Overload (after 25), and Empire Energy Spin (after 35 circuits).

Tess Jačova’s track offers the features Gyrota (symbols rotate, 3 to 7 at a time), Dynamo (2 to 6 special circuit symbols with four connections), and ultimately the Free Energy Spin. During this Free Energy Spin, a multiplier increases with each consecutive win. The Empire Energy Spin places a 2×2 Transformer symbol in the center of the playing field, which functions as four connected circuits; each closed circuit that connects with it increases the multiplier, up to a maximum.

On non-winning cascades within the bonus spin, the lower levels of the energy tracks can also be activated to increase the chance of extra action. There is no bonus buy option available: the Free Energy Spin and Empire Energy Spin can only be reached by filling the Energy Charger in regular gameplay. The symbols are all circuits with different connections; there are no separate Wilds or Scatters. The combination of the electric visual style, the rivalry between two inventors, and the mechanics of closed circuits creates a unique experience.
