Monkeys Go Bananas MultiMax is a video slot developed by Yggdrasil with a tropical pirate theme featuring cheeky monkeys and treasure chests. The game has five reels, three rows, and offers 243 ways to win. Each spin activates the Avalanche feature: when a win occurs, the winning symbols disappear and new symbols fall into place. With each avalanche, a wild symbol is guaranteed to appear in a random empty spot, increasing the excitement.
Above each reel, there is a reel multiplier; when a wild appears on a reel, the multiplier for that reel increases by +1. Wins involving multiple reels with an increased multiplier are combined and multiplied for a potentially larger payout. In the base mode, these multipliers reset when an avalanche does not yield a win. Free spins are activated by three scatter symbols on the middle reels (reels 2, 3, and 4), granting you eight free spins.
During the free spins, the reel multiplier of each reel remains persistent; meaning it does not reset after non-winning avalanches. In this bonus round, the game pays "both ways" — that is, from left to right and from right to left — except for five identical symbols on a payline, which only pays in the normal direction. Additionally, there are bomb symbols that can only appear during free spins when a spin does not yield a win. These bombs have three different levels: they can destroy the symbol they land on or also the surrounding positions, or symbols two positions away, each time causing another avalanche.
There is also a Buy Bonus option: you can directly purchase the free spins bonus round for 95× your bet instead of waiting for the scatter to land. The maximum win of Monkeys Go Bananas MultiMax is as much as 10,000× your bet. Bets range from 0.20 to 25 per spin.
The high volatility means that wins are rare but can be significant when the features kick in. The combination of Avalanche, wilds, reel multipliers, free spins, pays both ways, and bombs creates a dynamic and potentially thrilling gambling experience.
You can try it for free in demo mode or play it for real money.
